Building and Rolling the Newfoundland Trap Skiff (+playlist)

I'm been busy this year playing outside and haven't spent much time on the PC posting.

The month of December was cold here in Door County so I manged to find some time to roll the Trap Skiff off its building form.

Using several pull jacks I lifted her off, moved her over and rolled her onto the floor.

  2. Hi Dennis, The color is Interlux 1-part Brightsides Gloss Black...I wasn't going to go straight gloss, but I guess I smoothed her good enough to be straight gloss.
I had used anaother brand of gloss on my Blue Jay, but Interlux is several times brighter.

  3. Hi there! I came across your blog when I was looking for info about anyone who might be working on traditional wooden newfoundland boats. How happy I am to find your blog! I'm a Nflder and I live away right now. Very close to my dad, but he's a man of few words. Last night he casually mentioned that he had built a 33 foot trap skiff by hand! I was astounded that I had never known that. He even harvested the wood from trees and took it to a sawmill to make planks. Now I want to learn more about boatbuilding because it seems so important. I sure would love to see your boat sometime.
